LIVE COHORT · 6 WEEKS · CAP ~20 LEARNERS

SOC Launch Cohort

Six weeks, live, in a small cohort: build practical SOC skills, run real investigations, and leave with a portfolio and a plan — not a promise.

Overview

Most people trying to break into a security operations center hit the same wall: scattered free tutorials, no feedback on their work, and nothing to show an interviewer except a certificate someone else could also produce. Reading about SOC work and doing SOC work are different skills, and the gap between them is where most self-taught effort stalls.

The SOC Launch Cohort is a live, six-week program built specifically for that gap. You work through practical blue-team labs, guided investigations, SIEM and log-analysis practice, phishing and incident-response exercises, and a vulnerability-management exercise — each one reviewed by a mentor, not auto-graded.

Cohorts run live and online in a small group, capped at approximately 20 learners, so every submission gets a mentor's personal feedback rather than an automated rubric. You finish with a practical capstone project and a cybersecurity portfolio you can walk an interviewer through, line by line.

It's built for career changers, early-career IT professionals, and beginners who want structure and accountability. If you already have hands-on SOC experience, our standing SOC Analyst track goes further — this cohort is deliberately an on-ramp, not a ceiling.

Training, preparation, and certification

SkillXGen is a training provider, not a certification body. This cohort builds the practical skills and portfolio evidence that support Security+ and CySA+ study — it does not include, replace, or guarantee the official CompTIA examination, and SkillXGen does not award CompTIA certifications. If you pursue certification afterward, you register and sit that exam directly with CompTIA.

What you’ll learn

Career outcomes

Roles this prepares you for

  • SOC Analyst (Tier 1)
  • Security Monitoring Analyst (entry)
  • IT support → security transition roles

What you can do on day one

  • Triage a live alert queue with guidance
  • Write and tune a basic SIEM query
  • Map observed activity to MITRE ATT&CK
  • Document an investigation to a handover standard

What you leave with

  • A capstone investigation project
  • A published cybersecurity portfolio
  • A reviewed resume and LinkedIn profile
  • A scored mock interview recording

Who this is for — and who it isn’t

The right-hand column costs us enrollments on purpose. A wrong placement helps nobody twice.

A good fit if

  • You're changing careers into cybersecurity from another field
  • You work in IT support, networking, or systems and want structured SOC exposure
  • You want live feedback and accountability, not another video library
  • You want a portfolio and interview practice, not only a certificate

Probably not if

  • You already have hands-on SOC or blue-team experience — the standing SOC Analyst track goes deeper
  • You want a self-paced, watch-anytime course with no live sessions
  • You want a program that guarantees a job or an interview — nobody can promise that honestly
  • You need CompTIA certification issued directly — that only comes from CompTIA's own exam
